I call these individuals One Uppers What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?

Well I couldn’t resist this topic! The one trait in people that raises a red flag for me or just puts me off are braggers!

I’ve known many through the years, mostly female with a few men thrown in for good measure. My nickname for them are One Uppers! They can’t help but comeback in a conversation constantly building up their brand as it were, so yours is diminished.

I recently reconnected with someone from my childhood on Facebook. Our IM conversation seemed like a back and forth on whose kids turned out better. After about 45 minutes I was exhausted. I wasn’t getting into to many personal details. The conversation also focused on how successful she was in her “career”!

This little talk already let me know all I needed to know. I honestly can’t recall what she was like when we were younger since we lost touch. However, I wasn’t going to pursue anything more with her. I’m too old to go back to school days when it was a competition among peers. I had to deal with that in the adult world and I’m done!

I was always of the mindset that people who had to brag about their life constantly were just reassuring themselves how good they have it. I don’t have to One Up anyone!
