My Human Tagline.. How Life Has Changed It Over the Years

If humans had taglines, what would yours be?

I would have to go back to when I was in college. My human tagline was Free Bird! For those familiar with the rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd… yes that was my inspiration back then.

When I had no worries except getting through school and holding some part time jobs, I lived my life as a free bird. I resided at home and commuted back and forth to classes every day. Life was certainly less complicated and somewhat less stressful.

My parents were fairly lenient because they knew I wouldn’t go to crazy past the boundaries I was allowed. They let me be me and I respected them for that very much. Their actions set forth my transition from Free Bird to wait for it… Momma Bear!

The Momma Bear tagline was born after my children were born. My husband gave me the name because of how fiercely I loved and defended my son and daughter.

There is no book that teaches you how to protect and love your children. Being the Momma Bear meant that I just instinctively knew how to do it. My kids grew up in different times so paying more attention to their life was a no brainer.

I let them explore friendships, limited travel, dating and working, all while still in school. They knew though that I was always in the background and there if they needed me. I allowed them space to grow the way my mother did me.

Going from a Free Bird to a Momma Bear made sense for my taglines! And I’m really still a lot of both!
