I have become a Twewbie on Twitter. Forget about trying to pronounce it. It stands for a Twitter newbie. I’d been thinking about taking the plunge for a long time, but kept backing away. Facebook had been enough for me and I’ve been off of that personally for over a year. But what a fascinating foray Twitter is.
Twitter is Quite Informative
The one thing I will say about Twitter, is the plethora of information available. And there is a lot of it. Some is news, sports, lots of politics, and then just stuff. Sometimes the stuff, however, is hilarious. Reading people’s tweets, speaks volumes to some of the personalities out there. Maybe that’s why I stayed off for as long as I did. Twitter reminds me of Facebook a little, except things are updated in seconds instead of minutes. I actually like that.
Followers and Following
Basically, you can follow the entire planet at this point if you want to. Personally, I don’t. Then you can also be followed by total strangers. I’m still taking my time with that one. My daughter gave me some pointers to make sure I didn’t get duped. Well to late, it happened once. Be sure to check out people and their profiles when they claim to be someone famous. Then go to the actual celebrity profile on Twitter. It will verify the real deal. It won’t happen to me again. I am following the real celebrity now though.
The one thing about Twitter vs. Facebook, is that I don’t feel any competition. Believe me, it was prevalent on Facebook with friends all the time. Who got their stuff liked more, who was more popular. I am talking about adults my age. It was like being back in school all over again. I don’t feel that way on this. If you follow me fine, if you read my stuff, that’s okay, and if I decide to follow you, well you’ll know soon enough.
The ranting and raving doesn’t bother me, because if I get tired of it and I am following you, I will just not follow you. Best part is, we have no history. Nothing should be taken personally.
Entertainment Personified
Just remember, that if you decide to join Twitter world, be ready for anything. I will stick with it for who knows how long. It keeps me up to date on things I am interested in, like weather, sports and some politics. So far, it has not been as bad as I thought it would be. My kids think it’s funny that I am on it, but that’s fine. To them, anything an old person does with social media is. If you see me out there, say hi, or follow me. And if you don’t, I won’t be upset. It’s Twitter!
