Please let me know if you hear of any. The last good one I went to at work was when I started about 36 years ago. The entire company, which was a bit smaller then, was invited to a local club in the area for an afternoon of drinking, eating and dancing. My how times have changed.
We don’t do those kind anymore, and what a shame, but I get it. I bet the big wigs are having one somewhere though. No worries, for we had our little one in the conference room complete with sodas and water. Like most places, we have strict policies on alcohol consumption in the work place. Which is why we would like to go outside of the workplace to have a real party. At least some of us would enjoy that.
Christmas parties don’t have to end with drunk people dancing with lampshades on their heads. What it can be is a time for everyone to just cut loose and have fun, together. The best time for that, a party during the holiday season, away from the premises. Really, what is a Christmas party without a little holiday cheer. Some of those people I work with would be shocked as to how much fun I am too.
Now I understand about the drinking and driving, since I read the riot act on that to my family all the time. Everything in moderation right? And there is such a thing as a cut off time and coffee. The point is having a party at work is still work. Being at another venue makes it more relaxing, where you don’t worry if you went past your specific lunch time. I know where I work, that will never happen.
So if you are lucky enough to have an employer who understands the spirit of giving and having a good time away from the job, take advantage of it. We did back in the day! That’s what a good party was all about!
I remember that party! What fun!
Sure was. When coming to work was a bit more fun!
