Autumn Foods and Crafts…Just Visit Your Local Farm

I live in a region, where we have a lot of produce farms. Those farms produce their best foods this time of year. It’s not just about getting pumpkins and cornstalks. How about fall squash or apples? Many of these farmers depend on local customer support, often spread by word of mouth.

Quite honestly, I should visit them more often myself. My daughter is a big fan of one not even 7 minutes from here. They are known for their harvest set-up, corn mazes and small animal farm. That is on the outside. If you go inside to the store, you can find everything from apples and cider, to vegetables, fresh made pies and jellies, and all kinds of crafts for your home.

These farms are in most states, but open more now when the harvest season is upon us, especially in the east and mid-west. It puts me in the spirit for all the upcoming holidays. What better place to buy a fresh apple or pumpkin pie , than at your local farm. You know where it’s coming from, and it is going to be fresh.

There is nothing better than taking the family to a farm where you can get your Halloween pumpkins and enjoy the fall air and stock up on all kinds of apples. This is the best time of year to get them. Whether it be a Golden Delicious, Winesap, Honey Crisp or Granny Smith, you can’t go wrong.

So plan a trip over the weekend or if you have the time, go during the week. Support your local farmer, isn’t just a saying anymore. It is the best way to enjoy great food, autumn leaves and show our agricultural communities how important they are to all of us.
