Change of Seasons….Change of Wardrobe

Switching over my clothes to fit the season, has now become a comical tradition around here. My poor husband gets stuck with the honors of going up to the attic to get my bins down. It has become a joke now, which we laugh at, since I have about 5 bins and he has 2. Well, that sounds about right.

My amount of bins have gone down in the past few years. I always say that if I don’t wear a piece of clothing in 2 years, then I toss it. And so I have gotten rid of a few things. They go to charity to help others and give me a bit of a tax deduction.

It is quite exhausting going through the process. It doesn’t take me as long as it used to though. After a while, you get a rhythm down and just go. One advantage now is that with our kids not here anymore, we have extra closet space. This has helped to end putting many things up in the attic. That in turn means less things to be washed, due to that funky attic smell.

I also use the space under the bed in our room. Shoes go there in zippered bags. Being the old woman I am, sandals get put away. Just not going to wear them when it’s cold. Out come the boots, booties, and my warm bedroom slippers.

Of course, if I had a bigger home and closet, I wouldn’t have to go thru this ordeal. Be it as it may, the situation is what it is, so this is our solution. It shall continue as long as I am here to wear these things. My husband will just have to continue to go up to the attic. Changing the clothes is as important to me as putting an autumn flag outside in place of the summer one.

It signifies the beginning of a new season. And I am excited for it!
