I have shared in several previous blogs how much I don’t like shopping anymore. I suppose I should have included the part of leaving the house to do it. It’s that part of getting dressed and looking fairly presentable to interact with the inconsiderate and rude public in said stores.
So I am off from work today and just returned from a short trip out to buy some hair stuff and makeup. The store I went to is a national franchise where you can also shop on-line. Let’s just say I have done that too. My preference is definitely online. And why is that? My experience has now taught me that the products I need from these places are usually in cyberspace and not in the store itself.
After a while, one gets tired of running all over the state to try to find what you want, from the same store, just in a different location. It’s a waste of time and gas, and makes no sense. These merchants know what they are doing. Even Macy’s came out recently and said that they are going to vamp up their site, because online purchases are way up. I am one of those people. I needed new swimwear and the store in person had nothing. I purchased two, online, on sale and they both fit. Nothing had to go back.
In recent years, I have increased my cyber shopping. It just works for me. I have had better luck with it then running to the real places themselves. I purchased my dress for my daughter’s wedding online, bought our two big screen wood cabinets online, and yes even the big bags of cat food which I can’t find in Wal-Mart anymore, from their site. Random other products I have bought include, special trash can liners, a furnace filter, area rug, and most recently a new toaster oven, which should be here in a few days. What can I say?
Now of course, we are all aware of identity theft which keeps many from shopping online. My feeling is this, and it’s my opinion only, don’t think you are that safe even in stores. Identity theft happens everywhere and anytime. Being proactive is the most important thing. Check your accounts on a daily basis, those being bank and credit card sites you use most often. You know what you buy and what should be there. I also don’t use my bank or debit card for purchases online. I use a major credit card or that merchants own card. All major credit card companies will protect you and reimburse you for your losses. Why lose your money from your personal accounts.
No problem if cyber shopping is not for you. Not everyone has a PC, or for those who do, it’s just not for them. I embrace it when what I need can be bought with a click. Watch out folks. Christmas is only 3 months and 2 days from now! Happy Cyber Shopping!
