Starting this week, I will have the pleasure of working from home for 2 days now instead of just 1. I used to work on Friday only, but I will also now be here on Thursday. The second day will be contingent on me keeping my stats where they should be. I’m fine with that, and here’s why.
Short of being able to retire, working home a few days a week is lovely, in so many ways. Those who do this already know how it feels. For starters, I don’t have to drive, and for those who have read some of my other blogs, not a fan of that anymore. Then there is that extra hour I can sleep. No need to get dressed or rush through my coffee. I can see my husband off to work. He will always jokingly say, I screw up his and the cats morning ritual. Whatever!
Then there is the entertainment factor. Television or radio, whichever I am in the mood for that day. It helps me focus better. Nice to watch my soaps while I work. I control my food intake better, since I am a little less stressed. In addition, I don’t have to take a lunch. I can work straight through. Now, the best part of being home to work for a few days, is that I can get away from the whiners and complainers and non-workers. Yeah, there are a few I do like and talk with daily. But for the most part, I would rather interact with my cats. People, especially women can be overrated. No doubt, tongues will be wagging when they see I am not there Thursday, as well as Friday. Don’t care! I earned this.
However, believe it or not, there is a bit of a downside to being home. Since I am not totally anti-social, I do miss talking to people on occasion. Instant messaging works at times, but it’s not the same. Then there is the hygiene thing. When your daily routine consists of getting up and washing your face, putting make-up on and brushing your teeth, a delay in that process can screw you up. It does me sometimes. And there you go. The only cons I can think of really.
So here is hoping that second day doesn’t spoil me. It’s like a long weekend all the time!
