This isn’t anything you haven’t already heard from all the advocates out there for seniors. Take charge of your health can apply to anyone, but it is particularly important for older adults. No one knows their body and its functions as well as you do.
If it doesn’t feel the norm to you, then by all means, go see your doctor. People seem to think that doctors are magicians. They should know what your problem is before you even call them. Then there are those who just don’t listen to what they are told to do, such as take medications properly and get certain tests done depending on your age and family risk.
At this age, the likelihood is there to develop so many health issues. I, for one, have high blood pressure. It’s not always easy to eat the right foods, but I try to eat the right foods and never forget my medication. I go for my six month check ups and always hope to get the dose down. The point is I go, we talk about progress or not, and if need be, try something different. The alternative of a stroke or heart attack is not even an option.
So as not to get to preachy, all I am saying to you other Salty Sixties out there, is to do your part. There is no reason we can’t enjoy this stage of our lives, 10 pills a day or not!
